The sunset cruise has been our evening signature for seven years. The principle is simple: 5pm departure from Sainte-Maxime, calm navigation towards the Ramatuelle coast and Cap Camarat, aperitif break at anchor facing west, return under the stars. This time slot is the Gulf's most confidential — most boats have returned, water is glass-calm, and raking light transforms everything it touches.
The typical itinerary follows the southern Gulf coast, past the Tropezian peninsula, with an unobstructed view of the Saint-Tropez Citadelle backlit by the setting sun, then down towards Cap Camarat and its 1831 lighthouse (one of France's most powerful, 56 km range). We pick the anchorage zone depending on the day's wind: usually Pampelonne Bay or Cap Camarat cove, where the swell drops at the end of day.
On board, the ritual is carefully staged: champagne (Ruinart or Taittinger bottle included in premium upgrade, +€80), Provençal sharing board (tapenades, fougasse, Var goat cheeses) from our partner caterer, special sunset playlist. Forward sun pads deployed facing west, Bluetooth sound system at reasonable volume. For special occasions (birthday, proposal), we personalise: bouquet, cake, audio message.
The return happens under the magical "blue hour" light (40 minutes after sunset): coasts lighting up, yachts offshore twinkling, stars appearing. Arrival at Port de Sainte-Maxime around 9pm, just in time for a town dinner if you wish. The itinerary adapts to your rhythm — we can extend until 10pm at no charge if the evening is memorable.

The pivotal moment: 15 minutes before sunset, light becomes liquid over the Mediterranean.
Five ingredients you only find on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez at this hour.
France's second-tallest automated lighthouse (129m above sea level). Built in 1831, light range 56 km. Cardinal point of the Gulf's southern coast. Unobstructed view from the sunset anchorage — iconic backlit silhouette. Hero photos guaranteed.
The wildest part of the Tropezian peninsula, classified Coastal Conservatory. AOP Côtes de Provence vineyards visible from the sea, fragrant pine forests, confidential coves. Evening light here is unique — hillsides take on a legendary golden hue.
Ruinart or Taittinger champagne served on board (premium option +€80), house Provençal board: black and green tapenade, olive fougasse, Var goat cheeses, seasonal crudités. Served on west-facing sun pads. Cushions and throws provided if the breeze cools.
From the anchorage, Saint-Tropez Citadelle cuts a Chinese-shadow profile against the setting sun. Iconic view obtainable only from the sea at end of day. Perfect for couples photos or a proposal — we can provide an amateur photographer on board.
The 40 minutes after sunset — "blue hour". Colours shift to blue-violet, coastal lights come on one by one, offshore yachts twinkle. Calm return navigation to Sainte-Maxime, arrival under the stars. A suspended moment.
Quick safety briefing, onboard settling, contract signature. Sun pads already set, sound system at low volume. Champagne or chilled rosé in the cool box per chosen option.
South heading along the Tropezian coast, past Plage des Graniers and Pointe du Rabiou. View on the Citadelle. Soft music, sun pads out, first selfies against green cliffs.
Anchorage choice based on day's wind (Pampelonne south or Cap Camarat cove). Engine off, absolute silence. First tasting of Provençal boards, distant cicada song.
Suspended moment: champagne poured, phones away, 25 minutes facing west. The solar disc passes behind the Maures, light turns pink-orange then violet-blue. The show unchanged for 200 million years.
Calm coastal run back, coastal lights coming on, Milky Way visible on clear nights. Arrival Port de Sainte-Maxime 21:00. Option for a last drink dockside before your hotel or restaurant.
For +€80, we add a bottle of Ruinart Brut or Taittinger Réserve (75cl) with ice bucket and crystal flutes. Accompanied by an expanded gourmet board (aged cheeses, Corsican charcuterie, seasonal fruit). Perfect for birthdays or proposals.
In summer, you leave in a t-shirt at 5pm but often return chilled after 8:30pm (evening breeze). Bring a light sweater or windbreaker. We provide cushions and throws on board. No high heels for safety.
July: sunset at 9:20pm, ideal departure 6pm. August: 8:50pm. September: 7:55pm. October: 6:45pm. We adjust departure time to the month — confirm the exact window at booking.
Birthday, proposal, celebration: let us know 48h ahead. We arrange: flower bouquet, custom cake (Cascade pastry shop in Sainte-Maxime), audio message at the right moment, amateur photographer on board (+€150).
Depends on the month. June: 9:20pm. July: 9:15pm. August: 8:45pm. September: 7:50pm. October: 6:45pm. We adjust departure to arrive at anchorage 45 minutes before sunset — the pivotal moment when light turns magical.
Aperitif yes (champagne + Provençal board included in premium upgrade). Full dinner no — our 4-hour window is too short for a gourmet dinner. If you want dinner: 6h private boat option with onboard chef (+€350) or dinner after return in a Sainte-Maxime restaurant (we recommend L'Amaretto).
Sunset magic is different but real under cloudy skies: golden halos, cloud backlighting, dramatic pink gradients. We confirm the trip as long as wind is under 20 knots and no rain. Weather cancellation (decided at 3pm) = free reschedule to a date of your choice.
Perfectly — we receive such requests regularly. We discreetly coordinate with you: exact moment, accompanying music, hidden bouquet, onboard photographer (amateur included in +€150, or bring your pro). Absolute confidentiality. Surprise location: chosen with you.
Depends on the boat: 6 to 10 for optimal sunset cruise comfort. Sun pads are the key element — everyone must fit comfortably facing west. Above 10 people, the vibe becomes cocktail rather than cruise — we then propose a different format.
