Reach the wild, protected beach of Gigaro in 35 minutes by luxury boat drive from Saint-Tropez. The southernmost point of the peninsula — pristine sand, turquoise water, and the gateway to Cap Lardier nature reserve.
Gigaro is a wild, protected beach at the southernmost tip of the Saint-Tropez peninsula, nestled at the foot of the Cap Lardier nature reserve. Unlike the manicured beaches of Pampelonne or Saint-Tropez, Gigaro has no beach clubs, no sunbed rentals, and no commercial development — just pristine sand, turquoise water, and Mediterranean scrubland.
The beach faces south, catching the full Mediterranean sun from morning to late afternoon. The water is exceptionally clear, with visibility often exceeding 15 metres. Rocky outcrops at each end of the beach create natural snorkeling pools teeming with marine life.
Gigaro is the starting point for one of the most celebrated coastal hikes in France: the sentier du littoral that winds along the cliffs to the wild beaches of Briande and Cap Taillat. Cap Taillat is a dramatic, narrow rocky headland jutting into the sea — one of the most photographed natural landmarks on the Riviera.
Arriving by boat rental is the best way to reach Gigaro. The road access is limited and parking is minimal, especially in peak season. By boat, you arrive directly at the beach in 35 minutes from Saint-Tropez, stepping into knee-deep turquoise water with the wild coastline stretching before you.

A wild, protected beach at the foot of Cap Lardier nature reserve. Coarse golden sand, turquoise water, and no commercial development — just nature as it should be.
A 300-hectare protected headland with Mediterranean scrubland (maquis), rare plant species, and dramatic cliff formations. One of the last truly wild stretches of the Riviera.
The hiking trail from Gigaro leads to the stunning wild beaches of Briande and Cap Taillat — a dramatic rocky peninsula jutting into the sea. One of the finest coastal walks in France.
The rocky outcrops around Gigaro are home to rich marine life — sea bream, wrasse, octopus, and colourful sea anemones in water so clear you can see 15 metres to the bottom.
The coastal trail from Gigaro to Cap Taillat is a 3-4 hour round trip through some of the wildest coastline on the Riviera. The path follows the cliff edge past the hidden beach of Briande, then climbs to the iconic Cap Taillat peninsula — a narrow spit of rock surrounded by deep blue water on all sides. Bring water and sun protection; there is no shade on the headland.
The rocky areas at each end of Gigaro beach are ideal for snorkeling. Expect to see sea bream, wrasse, damselfish, octopus, and colourful sea anemones. The water clarity here is among the best on the peninsula — bring your own gear as there are no rental shops.
From the dramatic rock formations of Cap Taillat to the turquoise waters of Gigaro, this is a landscape photographer's paradise. The afternoon light on the south-facing cliffs creates golden tones that are impossible to capture anywhere else on the peninsula.
Pack a picnic from the markets of La Croix-Valmer or Saint-Tropez and settle in on the beach or a secluded rocky cove. Gigaro has no restaurants or vendors — just pure, unspoiled nature. The pine-shaded area behind the beach is perfect for a midday break from the sun.
