    About Cavalaire-sur-Mer

Cavalaire-sur-Mer sits on the western edge of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, where the dramatic Maures massif meets the Mediterranean. Its wide, crescent-shaped bay is home to a 2-kilometre sandy beach and a 1,200-berth marina that attracts cruisers from across the Mediterranean.

Unlike the flashy resort towns to the east, Cavalaire retains a genuine Provençal seaside character. The Wednesday market fills the town centre with stalls of local produce, while the beachfront promenade buzzes with family-friendly restaurants and ice cream parlours.

Cavalaire is best known as the departure point for the Îles d'Hyères — the archipelago of Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and Île du Levant, often called the "Golden Islands". Regular ferries connect Cavalaire to these protected island paradises, making it the ideal base for a day of island-hopping.

To the east, the sentier du littoral (coastal path) winds along the cliffs toward Cap Lardier, offering some of the most spectacular coastal hiking in the Var. The trail passes through protected Mediterranean scrubland, secret coves, and dramatic headlands.
